Juanjo today pleaded for the chance to show City what he can do.

The Spanish winger believes the Valley Parade public have yet to see the best of him since his move from Hearts five months ago.

Juanjo, the last recruit under previous boss Jim Jefferies, has started just three games although he has come off the bench 12 times. He featured in Nicky Law's opening game at Walsall but since then has been back in his familiar role among the substitutes.

Juanjo, pictured right, said: "It's a shame for me because I came down from Scotland to play more games and get in the team. I haven't really had the chance so far but hopefully it will come.

"The fans have seen wee highlights of what I can do but I've not really been given the time. Everybody needs a few games to get in the mood and get the fitness needed.

"I've been playing quite well in the reserves and scoring a few goals. But obviously it's not the same pace or same feel as being in the first team.

"People have been talking to me and say they are pleased with the stuff I've been doing. But it's hard for anyone to come on for five minutes every game and do brilliantly.

"It's so difficult to get into the game that late and everything passes so quickly.

"But hopefully the gaffer will decide to put me in and that's why you work hard in training every day."

Given his lack of opportunities, the Barcelona-born speedster has inevitably been linked with a third reunion with Jefferies at Kilmarnock.

"Obviously Jim is the one who brought me down but I knew then that things would change. Football is always like that and anybody can go at any time, whether it is a player or a coach.

"I'm just looking for a real chance for Bradford and I want to do my best for this team."

Juanjo was given 47 minutes - his longest run-out as a sub - against Birmingham on Tuesday after Gareth Whalley went off injured. That could signal a change in his fortunes.

"I enjoyed it a lot having more time and thought I did quite well. I tried to get in forward positions and saw a lot of the ball.

"We were very unlucky because we were pushing really hard in the second half but the goal didn't come. But at least people could see we created chances, got the ball and passed well.

"At the moment it looks like nothing is working for us and although we are playing good stuff at times, it isn't coming off. But I'm sure everything will change for us."
