Police are hunting two bogus officials who stole cash from a couple after claiming they were checking the water supply.

The 68-year-old man and his friend answered the door to a man who said he was fitting a fish tank in a nearby house and believed the water was contaminated.

He went into the kitchen of the house in Benjamin Street, Flush, Liversedge, and asked the pensioner to turn the taps on and off. Another man appeared and asked the pensioner's friend to turn the taps on and off.

The pair became suspicious when they were asked for their National Insurance details, and forced the suspects from the house. But £80 from a wallet in the living room was missing.

One man made off on foot, the other in an Audi car, registration M87 NUB. The first was described as white, early 20s, stocky, 5ft 11in tall, with short dark hair brushed back. He wore a red, green and black hooped T-shirt and dark trousers. The second was white, in his late 30s or early 40s, stocky, 6ft 2-3in tall, with short dark brown hair, and wearing a dark green long-sleeved top and dark trousers.
