A 36-year-old man who grew cannabis plants in the attic of his home has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Police officers discovered 13 plants together with growing equipment such as timers and lights in the attic of Chri-stopher Beazant's home in Easthorpe Court, Eccleshill.

Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday that the officers had visited another property in Lapwing Close, Allerton, earlier that day and had recovered various quantities of cannabis worth more than £300.

Beazant was at Lapwing Close and police seized £600 in cash from him.

During a police interview he admitted growing the Class B drug for his own use but also accepted he may have shared it with others.

He pleaded guilty to possessing the drug with intent to supply and cultivating cannabis and was given a seven-month prison sentence, suspended for a year.

Passing the sentence Judge Roger Scott said that he had taken account of the fact that Beazant was a carer.

Beazant was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £583.
