The winning entries in a Haworth photography competition will be going on show all year round in a special calendar.

The contest was organised by the Haworth Festivities Committee in conjunction with the Bront Parsonage Museum, and entrants were asked to capture Haworth on film.

Entries flooded in, and of the 200 pictures received the winners were recently selected.

A spokesman from the parsonage said: "The judges had a tough choice because the standard was very high, but the winners' photographs are really excellent and are currently being displayed at the parsonage museum."

The pictures, which reflect Haworth through the seasons, will later be used on a 2003 calendar, which will be available in tourist shops throughout Haworth.

The competition was sponsored by Yorkshire Water, which has provided the £100 prize money for the overall winner - Terry Hanson of Cullingworth.

The runners up were Tony Fickes of Allerton, Grace Bushell of Haworth, Nancy Wilkinson of Riddlesden, Roy Hampson of Castleford, Bridget Madden of Haworth, Mrs M Pritchard of Riddlesden, D Burrows of Shipley, Ruth Parker of Haworth, Paul Kenny of Cross Roads and Antony Heap of Riddlesden.

Money raised from the sale of the calendars will go towards the Festivities Committee.

The money will be put into local events to boost the village's tourist trade.
