PLANS to form an Under-18s league next season have had to be scrapped because of lack of interest -- but officials are planning to expand the open age section.

"We thought the idea of keeping youth teams together as they reached an open age level would be welcomed with open arms, but there was not as much interest as we had hoped, but we will be welcoming more teams into the senior competition" said a league spokesman.

Officials have already been contacted by four clubs which want to join and have invited other applications. Any club wishing to join should contact the league secreatry, Allan Feather, on 01535-274376.

As the current season draws to a close there was only one match on Sunday with Three Horses playing host to Midland. Both teams struggled to raise full-strength teams and Midland ran away with a 4-1 victory with goals from Gavin Hammond, Michael Davies, J Hundle and Neno Fereno.

The Premier Division Cup semi-finals are to be played on Sunday when Midland will be hoping to repeat their victory over Three Horses. The other semi-final is between Skipton, who are also in the District Cup Final, and Shoulder of Mutton who in the League's Premier Competition, the Jeff Hall Memorial Trophy. Both semi-finals are being played at Marley, kicking off at 11am.
