AMJID IQBAL swept to power-lifting success at Gateshead International Stadium last weekend.
He won the 75kg bodyweight class in the Yorkshire and North East Championships with a total lift of 540kg.
During the event he completed all nine lifts to beat Stuart Fagg of the Leeds Powerlifting Club that dominated the other classes. Amjid also increased his own personal-best total by 45kg.
He trains at 'The Gym' in Devonshire Street, Keighley, and club organiser Stuart McConville said: "Amjid showed great character. He did everything asked of him by lifting nine out of nine lifts and has the potential to be a British Champion in the future."
