Detectives are to question a "dangerous sexual sadist" who murdered teenage schoolgirl Leanne Tiernan about the killings of two Bradford prostitutes.

Officers are preparing to interview Bradford parcel-delivery worker John Taylor who was today beginning two life sentences for the kidnap and murder of 16-year-old Leanne.

As reported in later editions of yesterday's Telegraph & Argus, Leeds Crown Court heard how the divorced 46-year-old father-of-two grabbed Leanne on an unlit path near her home in Bramley, Leeds, in October 2000.

After strangling her, Taylor dumped her body in Lindley Wood near Otley where it was discovered nine months later.

Detective Superintendent Chris Gregg, who led the investigation into Leanne's murder, said he would now look "very closely and very carefully" at the unsolved 1992 murder of Bradford prostitute Yvonne Fitt whose body was buried around 200 metres from Leanne's in Lindley Wood.

And officers are to re-examine forensic evidence surrounding three other unsolved murders to establish if Taylor, who last year worked for Parcel Force at Bradford's Euroway Trading Estate, played any part in them. And while police remained tight-lipped about the victims' identities, it is believed one is Rebecca Hall, pictured, a Bradford prostitute whose horrifically battered body was discovered in a an alleyway in the city's red light district last April.

After Taylor was jailed yesterday - and warned he could expect never to be released from prison - Det Supt Gregg said: "We do not believe that this is the first major crime he has committed.

"We feel that because of the way in which the murder was pre-planned and calculated, the way in which the body was disposed of and from information from Taylor's liaisons with the forensic psychologist, he could have done something like this before."

The decomposing body of Yvonne Fitt was also found in Lindley Wood in September 1992 - four months after it was thought to have been buried there. The 33-year-old prostitute had died from multiple stab wounds and detectives had to use medical records and X-rays to identify the body.

Rebecca Hall's naked and battered body was found dumped in an alleyway in Thornton Street on April 26, 2001. The 19-year-old mum was last seen leaving her home in Little Horton Green bound for 'work' 13 days earlier.

Det Supt Gregg yesterday released pictures of a necklace which was found in the boot of Taylor's blue G-registered Ford Escort, saying it did not belong to Leanne and could help uncover evidence of another crime.

He said Taylor had made hundreds of contacts through 'lonely hearts' columns and urged for them to come forward.

In a courtroom packed with Leanne's family and friends, Taylor, of Cockshott Drive, Bramley, admitted kidnapping and murdering her.

Mr Justice Astill told him: "You are a dangerous sexual sadist.

"Your purpose in kidnapping this young girl was so that you could satisfy your perverted cravings."
