Runner Zaf Shah's Commonwealth dream could be shattered after he was struck down by an injury just days before his big race.

The Bradford athletics hope has picked up an inter-muscular bleed in his right thigh and will visit the physio today to discover his fate.

Shah, who was due to represent Pakistan in Friday's 10,000m final at the City of Manchester Stadium, was devastated by the news.

"I went to the physio yesterday and he told me I had this bleed in my leg," said the Lidget Green-born athlete.

"I am going back today to find out what is happening. I haven't slept since I picked up this niggle last Friday.

"I can't believe this is happening to me now, but I still hope to get the all-clear. I don't want to let the people of Bradford down."
