Guiseley will have to beat Division B side Hall Park to retain the Aire-Wharfe League's Waddilove Cup next month after the two sides won through to the final.

Mark Ross, man of the match in last year's final victory over Rawdon, was instrumental in Guiseley's straightforward eight-wicket triumph at home to Pool as he hit 36 and also claimed two for two from 2.3 overs.

Guiseley skipper Andrew Paley said: "We have had a disappointing time in the league this season but we seem to pull out our best form in the cup.

"It is great to reach the final for the fourth season running."

Guiseley will face the Division B leaders Hall Park, who edged past Bilton.

Chasing the visitors' 128 all out, Hall Park clinched the victory with just two balls remaining thanks to a six from Jonathan Haigh.

Earlier, Michael Elliott with 33 and Peter Weedon with 26 had set up the thrilling finish. The final will take place on August 11 at Rawdon.

Guiseley's cup victory saw them bounce back from defeat in the league the previous day at bottom club Rawdon.

A seventh wicket partnership of 110 between Matthew Doyle (56) and Denis Rock (53) proved crucial as Rawdon successfully chased Guiseley's 240 for five.

Menston slipped to the foot of the table despite their final pair holding out for 15 deliveries to earn two points at home to Beckwithshaw.

Third-bottom Burley are just four points ahead of Rawdon after their six-wicket defeat at home to Collingham, David Brook hitting a fine 74 for the defeated side.

Steeton lost ground on the leaders after their clash with Bilton was abandoned with both Adel and Follifoot now five points ahead at the summit.

The game of the day in Division B also fell victim to the weather with leaders Hall Park and Otley having to settle for a point apiece.

Skipton are now nine points adrift of safety near the foot of the table after their comprehensive 119-run defeat at fourth-placed Calverley.

Paul Valkovics (6-41) and Nigel Topham (85) were the stars for Calverley while only Rob Walker with 38 impressed for the struggling North Yorkshire side.

Harden and Thackley remain in the promotion places in Division C although Horsforth are pressing them hard. Harden are a point clear at the top after making light work of a Pool Mills side who were bowled out for 43 with PhilLeng taking five for 25 and Matthew Hogg five for 16.

Theckley beat promotion rivals Colton by three wickets thanks to a fine all-round display from Steve Coonan who took seven for 49 and hit 31 not out.

Tim Linley claimed eight for 28 to bowl Alwoodley out for just 54 to leave Horsforth just three points behind Thackley in the battle for promotion.

Bolton Villas, leaders earlier in the season, saw their miserable run continue at home to Upper Wharfedale.

Chris Spivey hit 56 but could not prevent Villas losing by eight wickets and they have now won just once in nine games.
