The extra teams in Bradford League Division Two led to a rare double dose of league cricket this weekend, with Mohammed Hafeez, and Idle,

reaping the most benefit.

Two centuries in two days from Hafeez helped his side forge an 11-point lead at the top of Division Two in an unprecedented weekend of scoring.

An unbeaten 116 on Saturday helped create an eight-wicket win over Brighouse, while a second ton, 112 against promotion rivals Gomersal, led to a three-wicket win.

Gomersal managed a 60-run win over Bankfoot on Saturday but ran up against an Idle side in top form the next day.

Mirfield remain in third place despite only playing the one game, a single wicket victory over promotion rivals Bradford & Bingley.

Overseas player Mohammed Asif managed an eight-wicket destruction of Bingley who made up for their Saturday disappointment with a nine-wicket win over Windhill yesterday.

But it wasn't all bad for the young side, who pulled off a rare win, by seven wickets, over Great Horton the day before.

Great Horton responded in style, lifting themselves off the bottom with a four-wicket win against Drighlington.

The other side near the foot of the Bradford League pile, Bowling Old Lane, helped themselves to a maximum-points win over Manningham Mills the first day, only to end up with a losing draw against a big-hitting Salts side (Kamran Hussain 148no).

His big score was a distinct improvement on the duck he picked up the previous day in the five-run win over Morley.

In other games, Saltaire scored a six-wicket win over Hartshead Moor on Saturday with skipper Ijaz Khan taking three wickets.

But Moor picked up three points the next day with the weekend's second tie.

Following on from the Spen Victoria/Woodlands tie on Saturday, Moor (198 for eight), tied with Esholt, who also got 198 thanks to another big score from Mark Gilliver.

In another Saturday game, Keighley returned to winning ways, inflicting the first of Drighlington's two weekend defeats.

With the home side dismissed for 143, the Towler brothers picking up seven wickets between them, Keighley won with seven still in the hutch, thanks in no small measure to an unbeaten 88 from Richard Robinson, the former Baildon player.

But his side have a lot of work still to do if they are going to force their way into the promotion position, with an 11-point gap between them and the vital top three spots.

Idle's big weekend looks to have given them a bit of breathing space with 18 points separating them from failure to reach the top flight.
