Ken Dodd, Billy Bragg, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and a pair of bananas are among stars visiting Halifax this autumn.

The Victoria Theatre hosts a selection of shows by comedians, singers and children's characters.

Mirth-makers include Lee Evans (Oct 2), Jethro (22), Ken Dodd (Nov 3), Bill Oddie (4) and Billy Pearce (8).

Up-and-coming stand-up comics appear at Dick and Liddy's Comedy Club on September 27, October 25, November 29 and December 13.

Abba tributes come from Mamma Mia (Sept 29) and Voulez Vous (Nov 1), and there are also tributes to Roy Orbison (Oct 31), Buddy Holly (Nov 19) and Elvis Presley (Oct 12).

Sound-alikes also perform in the All-American Solid Gold Rock and Roll Show (Oct 24), The Rat Pack (Nov 21), and Halfway to Paradise (Nov 27). The real McCoy includes the Stylistics (Nov 2), John Mayall and Peter Green (6), Billy Bragg and the Blokes (20) and Dennis Locorriere.

Opera International returns with the Chisinau National Opera to perform Verdi's opera Aida (Oct 23), and songs from musicals are performed in Beyond Broadway (Nov 9).

Children's shows include James and the Giant Peach (Oct 15-19), Bananas in Pyjamas (Oct 27), and the pantomime Aladdin (Dec 17-Jan 5).
