UFP UK is set to invest £4 million in new offices and expand its work force by an extra 130 people.

The computer supplies firm, which currently has a turnover of £42 million, is part of UFP International - which has an annual turnover of £420 million.

The firm currently has 55 employees but it is set to increase this when it moves into its new 60,000 sq ft site on the Euroway Trading Estate at the end of the year.

The firm, which is relocating due to rapid expansion of around 15 per cent per year, deals with big names brands such as Hewlett Packard, Canon, Lexmark, Epson, Sony and Brother.

The new site, which is currently being built, will house offices and warehousing for the firm which has massive recruitment plans in the pipeline.

The site will house 12,000 sq ft of offices - for around 90 sales staff - as well as a 46,000 sq ft warehouse.

Andrew Dalton, the company's commercial director, said: "As a recent arrival at UFP I'm impressed with the quality and dedication of the staff here.

"Everyone is very excited about the move and the opportunities which it will bring.

"There is no doubt that the people skills supported by the new facility will put us in a strong position to deliver the full potential of UFP to the market place.

"The move is on target to take place around the Christmas period this year."

Stephen O'Brien, sales director for the firm, added: "This new chapter in our adventure is testament to the hard work and determination of all the employees at UFP over the past nine years.

"We have a fantastic team spirit here, one that we will continue to nurture as the business grows. This expansion enables UFP and its employees to realise its full potential.

"We are very proud to have achieved the goals we set ourselves some three years ago and now have the platform to be bigger and better, thus creating more jobs and opportunities.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my colleagues at UFP and look forward to their continued support and commitment throughout these exciting times."

The firm was set up by Sajad Arshad in 1994 after he returned to his home city after a period of work in France.

He said: "Our goal is to become a £100 million company within three years."

The former Belle Vue School pupil added: "Our business has been built around developing key relationships with major computer manufacturers such as Brother, Hewlett Packard, Epson, Lexmark, OKI and Sony.

"It is a very exciting business to work in.

"I began working in the industry at an early age. It is a challenging and dynamic business, but I relish it. Like a lot of industries there is pressure, but I work very well under pressure.

"It was hard work when I started and remains so, but we have a very good team of people who will play a major part in our future success."
