An apprentice engineer, recognised as a shining example for young people in the trade, has won two top prizes for his work.
Johnny Wiltshire, who is on an a modern apprenticeship, picked up the Worshipful Company of Cutlers' Prize for outstanding achievement, and a medal for Production Engineering Welding Level Two.
The 18-year-old, of The Dell, Cullingworth, near Bingley, started in 1999 as a general engineering trainee on a scholarship scheme funded by Keighley's Single Regeneration Budget (SRB). He was taken on by Wilsden firm Ace Engineering. He also attends Keighley College on day release.
College tutor John Semenovicz put Johnny forward as an example of outstanding achievement and standards in the Level Two category.
Johnny said: "It was my college that put me forward for this and it was a bit of a surprise. I just had to put in my college work."
