Prop Stuart Fielden won three prizes last night at the Bradford Bulls' Player of the Year awards at Pennington's Variety Club on Manningham Lane.
The 23-year-old Great Britain international not only lifted the fans' Player of the Year award, he was also named as Best Forward and BISA (Bradford Independent Supporters' Association) Player of the Year.
However, right winger Tevita Vaikona gave him a good run for his money by lifting the club's Player of the Year award and he was also named Back of the Year.
Fielden said: "It is an honour to be selected when there are so many great players at the club."
It was the first time the fans' Player of the Year award had been chosen by text votes, and over 13,000 were received.
In fact, it was a good night for front-rowers altogether as other chief awards in front of another crowd of well in excess of 2,000 went to props Brian McDermott (Clubman of the Year) and Richard Moore (Most Improved Player) and hooker James Lowes (Hitman of the Year for his 622 tackles). Second row Daniel Gartner lifted the Prize Bull award, selected by the coaching staff.
The Senior Academy (under-19) awards went to Chris Bridge (Player of the Year) and Jason Boults (Most Improved Player), and the Junior Academy (under-17) awards were won by Nicky Saxton (Player of the Year) and Richard Dobson (Most Improved Player).
l Prop Joe Vagana has not won a late call-up to New Zealand's eight-match tour of Britain and France.
It was thought that the Bulls player might replace Noel Cayless, who withdrew from the tour party in order to undergo knee surgery.
But the Kiwis have opted instead for Andrew Lomu, part of the victorious Sydney Roosters team that won the NRL Grand Final at Telstra Stadium yesterday. Stacey Jones will captain the Kiwis.
