Keighley band Hush performs at the Three Horses, in Fell Lane, tomorrow evening.

n Singers' nights are being held on the next two Fridays at the Bacca Pipes Folk Club. Coming up on October 25 is the first outing for skilled musicians and songwriters, Tom Napper and Tom Bliss. The Bacca Pipes meet at the Ukrainian Club, 9 Henry Street, Keighley, at 8.30pm, each Friday.

n Metal returns to Keighley thanks to the latest band featuring long-time local rocker Mick Walsh.

Ironstorm promises to cleanse the world with noise when it plays its "metal holocaust" on October 19.

The Victoria Hotel, in Cavendish Street, Keighley, is the venue for the 7.30pm concert, which will feature support bands.

Coming next week: words of hype from Mick that will rival anything written by Johnny Poorboy!

n Music-lovers in Haworth are used to seeing the old stagers of the folk and blues worlds.

For a change this weekend they will be treated to one of the next generation of star performers.

Emily Slade is increasingly being mentioned in the same breath as young folk heroines Kate Rusby and Eliza Carthy.

Emily, from Hertfordshire, performs at Parkside Social Club, in Butt Lane, this Sunday, at 8pm.

Emily, 22, grew up in a musical family whose home was regularly visited by folk legends like Martin Carthy.

A musician from the age of eight, her style now moves through folk, blues and classical music.

Emily's songwriting is said to be carefully observed, intelligent, hard-hitting and witty, while her traditional songs are more haunting.

Tickets for the concert cost £5 by phoning 01535 642566, or on the door.

n Johnny and the Poorboys are playing a second gig to raise money for breast cancer research.

The Celtic rockers filled Victoria Hall earlier this year with a successful concert for the Sarah McKie Breast Cancer Trust.

On December 21 they will bring the fundraising campaign to a close with a "Celtic Christmas Rock and Roll Spectacular".

The support band will be Celtic soulsters The Wilderness, who are building up a local following with music by the Corrs, U2 and Van Morrison.

Johnny says there will also be other guest performers during the concert at Victoria Hall.

Anyone willing to sponsor the event should phone Johnny on 07973 950660 or e-mail him on jonnypoorboy@hotmail.com.

Johnny and the Poorboys play the Snooty Fox, Oakworth, (Friday, October 18), and the Blues Bar, Harrogate (October 27, 1pm).

The band plays Victoria Hall, on October 25, for Oakworth Football Club. Tickets can be bought from Richard Hewitt on 01535 645959.
