Songs from classic musicals are performed in Chop Suey, the autumn concert from Cullingworth theatre group CADS.

Eastern promise and Western spice come together in songs from shows like Oklahoma!, The King and I and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The show begins in San Francisco's Chinatown with songs from the musical Flower Drum Song.

The show travels to Siam, across the desert, and up to Italy for songs from Kiss Me Kate.

Then there are trips to both sides of the Atlantic for numbers from shows such as Annie Get Your Gun, Guys and Dolls, and Me and My Girl.

Chop Suey is performed tonight and tomorrow at Cullingworth Village Hall, at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale in Cullingworth Pharmacy or on the door.

n Power, corruption, deceit, greed, adultery and murder ... just an average night out in Keighley!

Keighley Playhouse, that is, as the theatre stages the first thriller of its new season.

Revenge comes from Robin Hawdon, who was also responsible for the smash-hit farce Don't Dress for Dinner.

Affairs are altogether more serious in Revenge as an MP arrives home to his smart Westminster flat from an overseas business trip.

He is told of the death of his party agent in a car crash and soon afterwards he receives a visit from a female reporter.

The woman's line of questioning quickly turns to items which could apparently ruin Bill's political, business and personal life.

But nothing is what it seems, of course, and the cat-and-mouse game between reporter and politician soon turns into a deadly battle.

A series of revelations build up to a twist-in-the-tale conclusion.

Revenge is staged in the Playhouse on October 21-26, at 7.30pm. Buy tickets are available from Keighley Information Centre in the town hall, or phone 08451 267859.

n Ebenezer Scrooge has a terrifying night with ghosts and ghouls in the new Keighley Amateurs' production.

Scrooge is the song-packed musical version of Charles Dickens's classic story A Christmas Carol.

Amateurs' members past and present appear in principal roles alongside a large chorus.

The show runs from Monday to Saturday at Victoria Hall, with a Saturday matinee. Buy tickets from Keighley Information Centre in the town hall, or phone 01535 652547.

* In last week's Knights Out I misspelled two names: legendary actor John Shaw is John Short and producer Keith Marston is of course Keith Marsden.
