The Otley Cycle Club Hill Climb two-stage event was contested on a fine but sunny day on two hills, the one mile Norwood Edge in the morning and the 1,400 yards East Chevin at Otley in the afternoon.
The overall winner was Jim Henderson of Southport CC in a combined time of 8mins 57.7 seconds. Second was Dave Coulson of J E James Racing Team in 9.12.7. Sam Ward from Burley-in-Wharfedale, a former Otley CC rider but currently riding for CC Plancoet, a French team, was third in 9.16.1.
The highest place Otley CC rider was comeback veteran Brian Field in eighth place with a combined time of 10.12.4. Brian not only won the veterans' prize but is now also the Otley CC hill climb champion for his efforts on East Chevin in 4.23.4.
Other Otley CC riders results are (all times are a combination of Norwood Edge and East Chevin):Patrick Kershaw, riding his first ever event at 14 in 11.49.3; James Cullen in 12.09.9; Paul Chapman in 12.21.8; David Harrison 13.24.5 and Andrew Kershaw, Patrick's father, also riding his first ever event, in 15.28.1.
