Steeton aim to make sporting history - and become the first club to win the County Cup the season after winning the County Trophy.

They got their campaign off to a flying start, handing out a 7-0 thrashing to Dudley Athletic.

Steve Hardacre scored two goals and he was backed up by strikes from Roy Mason, John Best, Rob Henson, Lee Barker and Dave Whitaker.

They were already 6-0 up at the break and settled for keeping Athletic at bay during the second period.

Keighley Phoenix secured a 2-1 derby victory over Keighley Lifts to record their first win of the season.

Bronte Wanderers went down to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Northowram and Denholme United also went out at the first hurdle, beaten 5-1 by Otley Town.

Several local teams, including the cup holders Silsden, and Cross Hills, had byes in the first round.

Steeton Reserves continued where their first team left off in the County Challenge Trophy, with a 4-2 win over Storthes Hall Reserves. Joynal Ali scored a hat-trick with Jimmy Potts adding the fourth Steeton goal.

Craven League side Lothersdale Athletic put up a tremendous fight before going down to County Amateur team Ventus-Yeadon in extra-time.

The score was locked at 4-4 to force extra time but the Leeds team scored twice to move through to the second round.

Silsden Reserves were pushed all the way by Cowing who took a 2-1 lead in the first half. Silsden took command for the first 20-minutes of the second half, scoring twice to take a 3-2 lead but Cowling would not give in an equalised once again.

The game continued to flow back and forth with Silsden taking the lead again, but Cowling forced the game into extra time.

The twist in the tail came as chance after chance went begging and the final blow came for Cowling when the game was decided by an own goal.

Keighley Phoenix Reserves couldn't fulfil the tie and handed victory to Ovenden.

The area doesn't have any representatives in the County Sunday Cup but have some of the favourites to take the Sunday Trophy, in Silsden, Keighley Juniors and Keighley Athletic.

Juniors survived a tricky first round tie against Wharfedale League side Wrose Albion, securing a 3-0 victory with goals from Gavin Finn, Hook and Rutherford.

Wharfedale Triangle side Keighley Athletic easily beat Bradford Sunday Alliance rivals Nab Wood Juniors, securing a 6-1 win. Goals came from Paul Goodwin (4), Steve Kernan and Dave Ellis.

Silsden hammered Wyke Wanderers Reserves 7-1.

The Three Horses were beaten 4-1 by Walnut Tree and Crossflatts were beaten 5-3 after putting up a tough fight against the Lord Nelson.

n Silsden continued in league action and battled out a 1-1 draw with Storthes Hall as they held on to their place at the top of the County Amateur Premier Division. Mick Ward scored the vital Silsden goal.

Keighley Shamrocks also continued with their league campaign and secured a 1-0 victory over Altofts with Adam Fradley on target.

Keighley Shamrocks Res were beaten 6-1 by Dudley Hill Rangers with Andy Barnes scoring the Shammies' goal.
