There was drama in the Bradford Sunday Alliance Senior Cup at Westwood where Crown, who were beaten in last year's final, gained revenge over the holders East Bowling Unity.

A month earlier play had been abandoned due to an injury at 0-0. This time the action produced nine goals.

Twice veteran Wayne Cotton put Crown in front only for Tariq Hussain to square matters on both occasions. Defender Nigel Danby looked to have won the game for Unity when he put the holders in front for the first time. But Crown were in no mood to lie down and they found a hero in Darren Kendal whose injury-time equaliser forced extra time.

Substitute Peter Ellis's great header and a Dave Armitage goal saw Crown edge 5-3 in front before Unity's Craig Bower ended the scoring at 5-4.

Holme Wood claimed the scalp of Premier club Wrose Bull who never recovered from a four-goal-in-15-minute spell in the first half. Wrose went out of the competition 7-4 leaving the First Division leaders with a meeting with Crown in the next round. West Bowling also claimed a Premier scalp at Bradford Moor. The home side had early chances but fell away as Bowling ran up five goals without reply, Darren Storey and Chris Wood sharing doubles.

While Albion Sports beat Wibsey WMC 5-1 in the outstanding game from the first round, Queensbury newcomer Dave Conroy got on the sheet twice as 'Bury went through 3-2 against East Ward.

In the Intermediate Cup second round, keeper Dave Gill made the one penalty save in extra time at Wibsey WMC Reserves which sent Harp International crashing out. Ian Fearnley's free kick and a class header from centre-half James Bell from Fearnley's corner saw Wibsey in front until Harps levelled to force extra time. Carl Wood got the winning penalty to take Wibsey through 5-4 on spot kicks.

Paul Saville's 60th minute appearance gave Fairweather Green Junction the edge over Woodlands who had kept Fairweather to 1-1 at the change round. Saville scored twice in a 5-1 win.

Another save from an extra time penalty was in the Nags v Fleece affair. It was 3-3 after 90 minutes and then 4-4 after 120 minutes. The game went 5-5 in the first round of penalties before Fleece went through when Nags were the first to miss a spot kick.

Albion Sports Reserves, with an enterprising youngster leading the line up front, were 5-2 winners at Victoria Rangers.

In the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup first round, despite never reaching top gear Fairweather Green were too strong for Halifax League visitors Shoulder Royd.

It was thought once Fariweather scored their first goal more would follow and that was the case as Paul Exley's 40th minute strike was followed in the second half with goals from Mick Burke (2) and Sean Durkin (penalty) to finish the game at 4-0.

Oakenshaw, usually a safe bet for the later stages, went out in extra time 2-0 to visitors Wakefield Athletic.

After dominating both their meetings with Devon (Leeds), Wyke Wanderers lost their replay on penalties after 120 minutes had produced a goal apiece.

Clayton Orient were also extra-time casualties in their replay at Nevison Leap. After no goals in 90 minutes the Pontefract club got the upper hand in the second period of extra time to win 4-0.
