Danny Cadamarteri today joined the clamour to keep Michael Proctor at Bradford City.

Proctor's second month on loan from Sunderland is up on October 26 although the club intend to contact new Black Cats boss Howard Wilkinson to extend his stay. Cadamarteri hopes they can hang on to the striker, top scorer with four, even though he has pinched his place up front.

Cadamarteri, currently sitting out a three-match ban for his red card against Burnley, had been pushed into a withdrawn midfield role to allow for Proctor to partner Ashley Ward.

He said: "Michael has scored some important goals and he's given the lads a lift, myself included.

"I wasn't getting enough chances or goals playing up front so the gaffer brought in Michael who has done a fantastic job since coming here.

"I'm quite happy about it. The manager wanted to use me somewhere else and felt that my fitness was good enough to get up and down the pitch in an attacking and defending role."

Sunderland could recall Proctor at any time because he has gone beyond the first month of his loan.

Nicky Law is desperate to hang on to him, especially with City currently struggling for goals from other sources.

The City boss said: "I need to speak to Howard to find out his thoughts. He might want to bring everyone back who's out on loan but hopefully that won't be the case. At the moment we've got a problem that if Michael doesn't score, nobody else will. We certainly can't afford to lose him."

Assistant manager Ian Banks faces a fine and possible touchline ban after being charged with bringing the game into disrepute. Banks was reported to the FA by referee Mike Dean for his behaviour at the end of the Burnley game.
