Community groups fighting for a new minibus are delighted to get a £5,000 lottery grant.
But they still need another £15,000 to reach their target.
Several organisations and clubs used the minibus at Kirkgate Community Centre in Shipley. For many, it was a lifeline and a means of getting out of their homes once a week for a social event or luncheon club.
In April, the User's Comm-ittee minibus was vandalised. But due to its age and battered condition, the committee only received £2,000 insurance money.
The lottery Awards for All windfall has strengthened their resolve to raise enough cash by Christmas.
Sue Thomas, manager of the Kirkgate Community Cen-tre, said: "We have begged and borrowed money, and now thanks to the lottery funding we have £15,000."
The group is now appealing for prizes for a raffle.
Ring Mrs Thomas on (01274) 580186 if you would like to hep the groups.
