People in the Bradford district are being urged to make a difference to a child's life.
Barnardo's is seeking volunteers interested in adoption.
The charity's plea has been issued to coincide with National Adoption Week, which began yesterday.
Homes are needed for children of all ages and from a range of ethnic backgrounds, for individuals and brothers and sisters.
Karen Boyes, an outreach and development worker with the Barnardo's New Families project, said: "Adopting children can be wonderfully fulfilling and we would encourage anyone who is interested to come and talk to us.
"Many people automatically rule themselves out as adopters - they think that they might not be suitable because of their age or lifestyle.''
