Yorkshire and Humberside is once again Britain's cheapest region, according to a survey just out. The cost of living - at 6.3 per cent below the national average - remains steady, and the region is about one per cent cheaper that its nearest rival, the East Midlands. Reward Regional Surveys, a Stone (Staffs.) firm of consultants last month investigated trends in 10 Yorkshire/Humberside towns: Barnsley, Bradford, Doncaster, Grimsby,Halifax, Hull, Leeds, Rotherham, Scunthorpe and Sheffield.
