DON'T be too surprised if New Brighton knock Otley out of this weekend's Powergen Cup Third Round - they won't be.
"Every team can be beaten and it wouldn't shock me if we beat them," said New Brighton centre Riaz Fredricks.
"We beat Wharfedale in the last round and I see no reason why we can't beat Otley. We had Wharfedale 16-0 down and they were lucky they didn't come off with a hiding."
In the end, Wharfedale hit back to lose 24-21 to opposition a league below them. But New Brighton now face Otley, a team two leagues above them, without fear.
Fredricks has played most of his rugby with Eastern Suburbs and has also had spells with Ulster and Bedford. He is enjoying his time at Reeds Lane.
"The club is ambitious," added Fredricks. "There is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes to put the club on a firm footing. Obviously promotion is our aim this season, but a run in the cup would be great too."
Otley have just two Division One wins to their credit this season, and were on the wrong end of a 69-11 reverse at Exeter last week.
The plus point for Otley was new signing Chris Kendra, who came on at scrum half and set up Mark Kirkby's consolation try.
