THREE Keighley cricketers are in the middle of a successful tour to South East Asia.

Nassir Kamal, Gulsheraz Ahmed and Garib Razak were invited to join the tour after a team from Birmingham visited the area to play the Keighley Cricket Academy XI during the summer.

They are playing alongside Worcester and England Under-19 player Kadir Ali and the current England Under-19 captain Bazal Shaffat and have won their first four matches on the tour.

This week they have travelled on to Lahore in Pakistan where they will be playing three matches.

Keighley businessman, Tony Lee, chairman of Ezra T Lee & Co, sponsored the three local players with £300 towards the cost of their equipment.

n The Cricket Academy's winter coaching sessions are to start on January 26 and will run for 10 weeks at Greenhead School.

There will be sessions for junior players which will be free of charge and there will also be senior sessions.

"It is hoped that a senior coach from Yorkshire will come to help the district's young players and take a look at the talent in the area.

"Any club in the area can also take advantage of our facilities which include bowling machines and the latest coaching equipment," said a KCA spokesman.

It is also hoped to organise and indoor cricket tournament during the course of the coaching sessions.
