The top tie in the Bradford & District Sunday Senior Cup third round was an incident-filled affair as holders Albion Sports needed extra-time to beat Queens Athletic 4-2.

With centre half Dave Morgan commanding in the air and Paul Gelder operating in a defensive midfield role, Queens were good value in a goalless first half.

In the second half, Morgan's son, Matthew, fired Queens in front only for Albion to equalise almost immediately through midfielder Paz Singh.

Roger White missed a penalty for Queens but Dave Morgan slotted in a twice-taken free kick to make amends.

With eight minutes left, Jason Ryan floated over a cross for Taj Singh to send the game into extra-time.

Stefan Zoll scored immediately on the resumption and Singh's second goal wrapped it up 4-2.

Quarry made it to the last eight for the first time with a 3-1 win over Wyke Wanderers.

They went in front through Damien Watkins after two minutes but Craig Sheridan equalised after 20 minutes. Then Sean Mahoney restored Quarry's lead with a deflected volley.

Ben Watkins joined his brother on the scoresheet before Quarry nearly cut their own throats on the last quarter when they had two men sent off for back-chat.

Hare & Hounds ended the run of 1B leaders Heaton United with a four-goal second- half performance at Canal Road.

In front 2-1 through Imran Fazil and Safraz Akhtar (penalty), Heaton faded as Hounds players Daryl Leach and Danny Saville struck doubles to complete a win.

The Fairweather Green v Wibsey WMC Reserves tie was a mismatch as Fairweather ran out 14-1 winners. Top scorers were Paul Exley (5) and Adie Howard (4).

After holding their own in the first half and causing their opponents problems in a 20-minute period, Queensbury failed to become the fourth Alliance side in the last 32 of the FA Sunday Cup at Cammell Laird against Merseyside opposition Queens Head.

Two goals in five minutes changed the game in the second half and Bury made a 4-0 exit against a side that included nine of Cammell Laird's FA Vase side against Harrogate Railway.

In the Bradford Sunday Alliance League First Division, Mark Betts continued his phenomenal scoring run. Betts, who hit four for Wibsey in the County Amateur League on Saturday, scored five as Wibsey WMC overwhelmed Chellow 8-2.

Chris Marsden's goal gave Queensbury Reserves their first league win and undid Dudley Hill Rangers' recent progress.

With second-placed Quarry involved in District Cup football, Waggoners strengthened their position at the top of 1A with a 7-2 win at Victoria Rangers. Wayne Payton scored a hat-trick. Clayton Orient entered the promotion race with a 3-2 win at Move It Removals. Two goals up in the first quarter, it was veteran Barry Dunn's goal in the 46th minute that sealed the points.

In a false league position having played only six games, Shoulder of Mutton were comfortable 5-2 winners over top-four side St Pats.

In Division 1B, Ring O'Bells and White Eagles shared the points in a 3-3 draw.

With first and second in the table in cup action, Fairweather Green Junction moved three points clear at the top of the division with a 4-2 win over Red Lion. Newcomers Paul Noble and Andy Yates were in fine form

Woodman Rovers kept up pressure on the leaders with a 4-2 win over Dudley Hill Rangers Reserves. James Nestor hit another hat-trick.

The only game to go ahead locally in the FA Veterans competition was at Horsfall Stadium where Whetley Lane produced a five-goal second-half performance to sink Shelf 6-0. Ronnie Goldwater ran the length of the field for the first-half goal and Sylvester Warner led a second-half romp with four goals.

The only unbeaten team in Division 2A - Bradford Park Avenue Rangers - scored six goals at New Inn (Wyke). Alan Lake led the way with a hat-trick and Andrew Wilson (2) and Jermaine Brown netted the others.

Beldon Sports have still to earn points in Division 2B. Gaping Goose scored eight against them with a hat-trick from Bob Dooley. Beldon could only reply with two.

Third-placed Oakworth Juniors had a bad day in their 6-2 drubbing against Allerton. In Division 3A, Horton United and White Swan finished honours even with two goals apiece. The Queen Hotel's Steven Barr netted both goals in a 2-2 battle with One In Twelve.
