Claus Jorgensen today declared himself willing and able to return to the First Division fray for City.

The midfielder played his first game back from a knee injury for the reserves on Monday. It was his first outing for two months but the Dane believes he is strong enough to feature against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Jorgensen said: "It depends when the manager calls me up but I feel ready now. I can train and train but what I need now is matches and the knee feels fine.

"The playing side of it went well on Monday but I need to work on my touches and that only comes in the heat of a proper match.

"I can't really complain about my injury because I've played for five years and hardly missed a match. I know it won't suddenly disappear overnight but I'm not worried at all about the knee and I just want to be out there playing again.

"I felt a real buzz playing in the reserve game at West Brom and now I just want to keep playing."

Nicky Law gave his squad extra training yesterday as they look to snap a four-game losing streak.

Jorgensen is the first of the casualty list to come back. Peter Atherton and Jamie Lawrence should be available within the next few weeks while David Wetherall and Andy Tod are running again.

Jorgensen added: "There are a few players on the brink of coming back so maybe our luck is starting to turn at last.

"It is difficult with so many players all injured at one time but I think things will improve now."

l David Wetherall and Paul Reid are the speakers at tonight's fans' forum in the Sunwin Stand banqueting suite (7.30). Entry is £2 or free for supporters' club members.
