A fast feathery flier has landed at a rare breeds farm in Heckmondwike.
Krishna, a three-year-old Lanner Falcon, arrived at Ponderosa Rare Breeds Farm in Smithies Lane after being trained by a Huddersfield man who could no longer keep her.
Krishna, who is a foot tall and weighs 1lb 6oz, is the first falcon the farm has ever cared for and staff hope to fly her in public displays from spring of next year. She is pictured with Ponderosa trainee Danny Sharpe.
Ponderosa owner Maureen Cook said: "Krishna is so tame, she is like a budgie, but we fly her with a glove on for stability. We already have a kestrel but Krishna is much faster than that. She is unbelievable."
Lanner Falcons are native to Europe, north Africa and the Middle East and live off a diet of chicks and small rodents.
