OUR picture tells the story - brave Danielle Skilbeck has finally returned home after months of hospital misery.
The plight of the Otley youngster touched the hearts of people across Wharfedale and beyond when she contracted meningitis.
The condition led to her hands and the lower half of her legs being amputated and a four-month stay at St James's Hospital in Leeds.
Mum Lindsay Pollard, 20, is hoping to send her daughter to the Dorset Orthopaedic clinic, where celebrity Heather Mills was fitted with her artificial leg.
"It will cost £100 for the first consultation and thousands to pay for the legs," she said.
"It is something that I want to do when she is aged 18 to 21, then she will be able to go out and have a lovely pair of legs."
Wharfedale Observer readers have rallied round over the past few months to support Danielle's appeal.
