Eccleshill U-17s 8

Baildon Trinity U-17s 2

With five players missing for various reasons, a much-changed Baildon Trinity were no match for their opponents.

On a very heavy pitch, Eccleshill put the visitors under pressure but it was not until the 26th minute that they opened the scoring.

Two more goals quickly followed, the last one being unfortunate for Baildon goalkeeper Danny Morton slipped in the mud to a shot he would normally have saved with ease.

Baildon then had a good spell and created a number of chances. Unfortunately they kept trying to walk the ball into the net, rather than shooting on sight.

However, just before half-time, another attack down the right saw full-back James Swain put in a great cross to the far post, which was headed in by Chris Reardon.

In the second-half Baildon kept trying to go forward and at times looked impressive. But with the exception of the hard-working Andy Padgett, their midfield failed to track back and pick up their men.

This put undue pressure on the back four and further goals followed at regular intervals.

The only consolation in a poor display was that Reardon scored the goal of the game when he beat two players in a 20 yard run before rifling a left foot shot into the top corner of the net. Morton was awarded the match point.

Wilsden U-15s 1

Burley U-15s 3

A resurgent Burley Under-15 squad scored its second away victory of the season, avenging the earlier home defeat by a competent Wilsden team.

A confident start saw Burley dominate the early phases of the game, taking command when Laurie Swan stroked a telling pass through to Phil Buckley.

His pass right to Adam Rhodes took the defence and 'keeper out allowing Rhodes to guide the ball into the unprotected net. Burley's hold on the game continued until their one area of vulnerability - defending corners - was exposed when a header squeezed under the otherwise flawless Jonathan Woolley. in the Burley goal.

Dave Healey, who worked tirelessly throughout, went close to scoring what would have been the goal of the season after a series of zig-zagging passes led to his fierce shot from far out on the left almost brushing the crossbar. One-all seemed scant reward for Burley's efforts by half-time.

However, the second-half proved to be virtually one-way traffic. Rhodes struck an impressive shot from out on the right to score his, and Burley's second.

Buckley was unlucky to see a fierce close-range effort blocked. Rhodes went close to grabbing a hat-trick but fired wide and a series of passes opened the defence to allow Richard Walkington, an eye-catching second-half substitute, a strike which narrowly missed. Two more attempts from Rhodes, including a shot from 40 yards, went frustratingly close but not close enough. Another sub, Ryan Scannell, justified his introduction when he seized upon a poor goal kick to coolly lobbed the hapless 'keeper. Buckley was awarded Man-of-the-Match.

Burley's defence looked solid Danny Holden, Graham Parker and Ben Louden all displaying tenacity and determination with George Wright having his best game of the season and Laurie Swan revelling in his new midfield role.

Ilkley U-9 Yellows 1

Wetherby U-9s 4

After their recent run of good form the Yellows were brought down to earth in Sunday's defeat by Wetherby. Against Wetherby's strongest side, Ilkley produced a lacklustre performance, frequently being second to the ball and losing their team shape.

In the first-half there were some thundering tackles by George Grant and Callum Bott in defence, effort and industry through the middle by James Crowther and Sam Walker and occasional attacking threats from Nick Jenkinson but little passing fluency from either side.

With a changed game plan in the second-half both sides began to find space and scoring opportunities. Ilkley's defence was twice split open for Wetherby to establish a 2-0 lead. Ilkley tried hard to get back into the game, Jake Norton driving forward whenever possible and William Marshall working hard. Edward Bullock had to make several brave saves to keep Ilkley in the match.

A soft third goal was conceded, however and then an unfortunate fourth took the score to 4-0. To their credit the Ilkley boys didn't lose heart and Kieran Mitchell scored a well taken consolation goal to complete the scoring at 4-1.

Man-of-the-Match went to James Crowther for a good all round performance.

In the following friendly Ilkley went some way to putting the record straight with a thumping 8-1 win goals coming from Kieran Mitchell (3), Callum Bott, William Marshall, Sam Walker and two own goals.

Ilkley Under 9's Blues 8

Wetherby 0

Ilkley's blue team completed at hat trick of victories against league leaders Wetherby with an outstanding display of fluid football and clinical finishing that took their unbeaten start to the season to six games.

The game opened at a furious pace and Wetherby found themselves 2-0 down as birthday boys William Driver and George Gamble beat the static defence with skill and speed to slot the ball past the helpless Wetherby 'keeper.

Ilkley were now in full control of the game and any possibility of a Wetherby attack was snuffed out by the resolute and well organised defending of Matt Webb amd Cameron Lawson, who along with 'keeper William Spivey are proving to be the meanest defence in the league.

Their excellent tackling and distribution helped set up a string of goals for the playmakers Fred Atkinson and Oliver Moulton who continued to show that the hard work they have put in at training is reaping excellent rewards.

After half time Wetherby were in disarray, Driver, Atkinson, Moulton and Gamble took total control of the game enabling new boys Sam Akroyd and Alex McClusky to contribute to an all round excellent display. Akroyd was unlucky not to score on several occasions and McClusky added a good physical presence to the defence, both players are worthy additions to the team.

The hard working Oliver Moulton was rewarded by a brace of goals as was Fred Atkinson whose total for the season is 11, making him the league's top scorer. However, the Man-of-the-Match award went to William Driver whose display of skill, athleticism and control led to a hat-trick that was a birthday treat for all the team.

Ilkley U-8 Blues 1

Collingham 1

A disciplined and committed performance from Ilkley earned them a well deserved draw in a match that they were unlucky not to win. Collingham used their home advantage to start strongly as was to be expected from an unbeaten team. However, Ilkley were far from overawed and when the game was only a few minutes old Dominic Wilson intercepted the ball to burst through the Collingham defence.

As the defence struggled to catch him one of them had the misfortune to turn the ball into his own goal to give Ilkley the lead.Thereafter the Ilkley defence of William Atkins, James Driver and Matthew Mann maintained their shape and composure to deal admirably with the Collingham attack allowing them few goal scoring opportunities.

However, as half-time loomed a misjudged tackle on the edge of the area gave Collingham a penalty which was duly converted.

In the second-half Ilkley maintained their impressive performance with Howard Fojt and Fabien Trouille running tirelessly in midfield and linking up well to maintain the pressure on the Collingham goal. The Ilkley defence continued to contain Collingham giving 'keeper Ryan Burnhill little to save but when called upon to do so he responded with a spectacular flying save to prevent Ilkley from going behind.

A number of fine passing moves from the Ilkley defence and midfield provided further opportunities to press forward and from one such move Dominic Wilson was unfortunate to see his shot beat the Collingham goalkeeper but strike the post.

Man-of-the-Match was James Driver.
