Oakbank cross country runners took top places in the army's inter-schools championships held at Beverley, near Hull.

A total of 70 teams from across the north of england took part int he competition, travelling from Liverpool, manchester, Newcastle, Sunderland and Lincolnshire.

Each race was over 3,000m and teams consisted of three boys and three girls.

The standard was very high with many county and England runners taking part.

the Oakbank team was fourth, just behind Buxton College in the Year 10 race. Runners were: 13 Ryan Ettenfield, 18 Tom Walbank, 31 Nick Twigg, 57 (8th girl) Emma Hartley, 61 (11th girl) Emma Drake, 67 (14th girl) Kayleigh Barnes.

The Year -11 race saw oakbank take third place out of 23 teams. they were just one point behind second placed Laurence Jackson School, Lincoln . the team was: 11 Richard Stack, 22 Tom Lonsdale, 39 Rowan Thewlis, 49 (6th girl) Rebeca Long, 61 (10th girl) Cathy Frobisher, 96 (31st girl) Claire Lawrence.

The sixth form team took fourth place out of 22 runners. The team was: 7 Sam Clegg, 28 Ben Utley, 32 Tom Golding, 44 (6th girl) Laura Grham, 51 (10th girl) Kayleigh Greenham, 79 (22nd girl) Nicola Leng.
