Rookie goalkeeper Boaz Myhill is tipped to become an instant hit with City.

The American-born England under-20 stopper was making his debut against Sheffield United this afternoon at the start of a three-month loan from Aston Villa.

Myhill, 20, is yet to play a senior club game even though he has been capped by England at age-group levels.

But former Villa team-mate Paul Merson believes Myhill, who has been at Burnham Beeches at an international get-together, will grab his City chance with both hands.

Merson, captain of table-toppers Portsmouth, said: "Boaz is a very good goalie and I think he will be excellent in the First Division.

"He can be a bit too laid-back but I think he has a chance. He is a very good shot-stopper and I think Bradford have done well getting him."

Myhill only returned from a loan at Bristol City two weeks ago. He spent three months at Ashton Gate but did not feature.

Villa boss Graham Taylor signed Dutchman Stefan Postma in the summer as cover for Peter Enckelman and is happy for the highly-rated youngster to gain experience elsewhere.

He said: "I think it's very important that some of our younger players like Boaz experience first-team football. If we get the opportunity to send them out we will make the most of it."
