Vandalism and people urinating in entrance halls were a police matter and not a rating consideration said Coun. Bill O'Brien, chairman of Bradford Valutation Court. Mr Thomas Gledhill, chairman of the Mitchell Square Tenants' Association, representing 20 tenants of the Ripleyville precinct in West Bowling seeking rates reductions, told the court that West Bowling was not a desirable place to build flats.

A capacity audience at Skipton Town Hall gave a warm welcome to Andres Segovia, the Spanish guitarist, who appeared at the second concert of the season of the local Music Club. Skipton was the only northern centre, apart from Liverpool, included in Segovia's present concert tour, so his visit was a notable event.
