A Guiseley property company has helped provide a major jobs boost in a West Midlands town.

Ogden Waller Properties re-launched the Trident Shopping Centre in Dudley after helping transform it in a major £1.5 million revamp.

The property firm, which has a portfolio of major schemes across the UK, is headed by directors Paul Ogden and Duncan Waller.

The firm took over the previously closed Trident Centre for an undisclosed sum in February.

Since then, a large refurbishment programme by York House Construction turned the centre into a modern and stylish shopping precinct.

York House Construction improved access to the shopping centre with new escalators from the 200-space underground car park, as well as fitting out eight new retail units.

The refit has already attracted discount giant B&M, which also has a store in Morley, and retail chain Bewise.

The new development could bring up to 80 new jobs to Dudley.

Paul Ogden said: "We are already receiving a large number of enquiries from other major retail chains who are keen to open in the Trident Centre. This is further supported by Bewise re-opening in the centre.

"We felt this site offered a strong opportunity. Dudley is increasing in importance as a retail centre and we felt the time was right to totally transform and rejuvenate the Trident Centre.

"With the retailers who are already in place and those who are expressing strong interest, we are confident that the new look Trident Centre will prove popular with shoppers."

Mr Ogden also paid tribute to town centre manager George Whitehouse, who he says has worked hard to attract new retail investment.

George Whitehouse added: "With the level of development either completed or already underway, the town has entered an exciting, new era.

"The transformation of the Trident Centre is assisting Dudley to find its niche market.

"We are grateful to Ogden Waller Properties and for retailer partners, like B&M, who have shown great faith in the future of the Trident Centre."
