He wouldn't necessarily describe it as a dream come true but teenage striking sensation Anthony Bing-ham is certainly happy to have made his Park Avenue debut.

The lightning-quick 17-year-old is proving a useful member of Trevor Storton's squad and deservedly capped his debut on Tuesday with a goal.

"I didn't think I played that well," said Bingham after his side's 4-1 victory over York-shire Amateurs in Tuesday's West Riding County Cup second-round game.

"I got a knock on my ankle training with the reserves the other day and just couldn't shake it off.

"I don't think I really did enough to convince the manager that I deserve more chances."

But with Jason Maxwell suspended for the Boxing Day clash with Harrogate Town and Andy Hayward just one more booking away from missing a game, Bing-ham is likely to get another chance.

Very quick off the mark, the confident youngster seems to possess that Rory Prendergast quality of being able to produce the unknown.

He was unlucky with an overhead kick last weekend during his brief appearance as a substitute and showed one or two flashes of what he is capable of on Tuesday .

Athough he was taken off with 16 minutes left, the management seemed impres-sed with what he had to offer.

"I thought the young lad did well," said assistant manager Ian Thompson.

"He can be happy with that first performance."

But Bingham has a bit of disciplinary problem.

He was sent-off for a head butt in his first game for the Academy this season and has also picked up five bookings for both the reserves and youth sides.
