Bradford Council should spend more cash on education and inner city development, instead of building up a "Fort Knox" in City Hall and making cuts. This was the theme of last Saturday's Trades Council meeting in the Textile Hall, Bradford. A motion to this effect, and which called on the Government to expand the public sector and revise its policy on cash limits, was passed by the 25 or so delegates left at the end.

A 30ft Christmas tree brough from the Washburn Valley was in position today among the stalls in Otley Market Place. It will be decorated with coloured lights which next week will be switched on by the chairman of the urban council ( Mr. S. Wilkinson )and will be lit each evening until the New Year.
