A VIP lunch and a trip to see Bradford City are up for grabs in a festive auction in aid of the Telegraph & Argus Bradford Can... Cancer Research Appeal.

The winner of this prize will get two tickets for the Boxing Day match between Bradford and Stoke City at Valley Parade.

And the winners will also enjoy a brilliant lunch in the banqueting suite of the stadium.

The prize has been donated by Janet Goodyear, a member of Bradford and Bingley staff who won them through a raffle.

The tickets are on offer in a telephone auction being run through the Bradford Can... appeal office.

Between now and 5pm on Thursday, December 19, just phone your bids for this fantastic day. The tickets will go to the highest bidder and bids will be confidential.

Bradford Can...appeal manager Tish Burton said: "This will be a fabulous day out and I would encourage everyone to get their bids in.

"As well as having a chance of winning, you are also helping the final push towards the appeal's £1million target."

Proceeds from the auction will go towards the appeal's Christmas challenge.

In the month of December, they are aiming to boost the appeal by at least £25,000.

The challenge got off to a flying start last week when events throughout the district raised almost £9,000.

Now more fundraising is needed to make sure the £25,000 is collected by Christmas Day.

There are lots of ways to help, from a simple raffle or collection to themed parties, Christmas lights or even donations for Christmas kisses under the mistletoe.

Pubs and clubs in the Bradford area are also getting behind the appeal by doing their bit towards a special challenge.

The Goldsborough pub in Captain Street, Bradford, is aiming to raise £500 and has already organised events like a Christmas raffle and a bar rush.

Mrs Burton urged other pubs to join in too.

"The more help we can get, the sooner we will reach the target. And it's a great way to have fun during the festive season," she said.

The Bradford Can... Appeal has raised £800,000 towards its £1million target for cancer research in Bradford.

After that is raised, Cancer Research UK will put in another £5million towards work at Bradford University and Bradford Royal Infirmary.

There will be an answering machine for bids when the office is closed.
