Paul Hart could have played a part in his own downfall should Andy Gray sink his former club tomorrow.

Gray's form for City this season has been one of the few bright spots and the winger has been filling in manfully up front covering the injured Ashley Ward.

It's a role Gray has not played since he was in the youth team at Leeds when Hart was in charge.

Now Gray, who notched his sixth goal of the campaign against Gillingham, is hoping to remind Hart of his striking prowess when Nottingham Forest arrive at the Bradford & Bingley Stadium.

Gray said: "Paul Hart was the one who told me to play there in the first place. But until the manager here asked me, I had not done it since being in the Leeds youth team.

"It is a lot different to what I'm used to but I'm enjoying it. As long as I'm in the team it doesn't bother me where I am playing.

"Without Wardy being in the team I've got to hold the ball for as long as I can. I've been trying to do that more.

"I've also managed to score a few goals which feels nice but I'd sacrifice them for a couple of decent results."

City are desperate to break the seven-game losing run that has dropped them into trouble. But Gray denies that morale in the dressing room has dipped.

"I don't think confidence is a problem and the lads seem pretty optimistic that we can turn it round. The spirit isn't suffering, it's more a case of us keep making little errors and getting punished.

"We were quite confident going into the game last week after the way we had played at Millwall. And when I got my goal, it was the sort of game where it looked like there wouldn't be any more.

"Up until the penalty I couldn't really see where Gillingham were going to score. But their second goal was great and came out of nothing.

"The good thing for us at least is that nobody below us has been winning. That was a bit of a boost on Saturday when we saw the other results.

"But we also could have bridged the gap between us and the teams ahead if we had won.

"We know Forest are a good team and I said when we played them a few weeks ago that they must have a chance of doing something this season.

"But every game is hard for us now because of the position we are in. We have to stop this losing streak we are in at the moment."

Forest, who are expected to be unchanged from the 1-0 loss at Burnley, have been warned against taking their eye off the ball.

Boss Hart said: "It's going to be even more difficult and if there's an ounce of complacency I will want to know the reason why.

"We are looking at a difficult game and if we can win this I will be absolutely delighted."
