Bradford Bulls coach Brian Noble has admitted talking to club chairman Chris Caisley and chief executive Abi Ekoku yesterday about signing Karl Pratt.

The 22-year-old Great Britain international became a free agent after a lunchtime hearing of the Rugby Football League's advisory panel ruled against his club Leeds Rhinos.

"We are interested in any quality player, and he is one," said Noble, who is also the Great Britain assistant coach.

"And that is why I spoke to Chris Caisley and Abi Ekoku, but we need to look at the make-up of our squad and where he fits in.

"However, I don't think it is fair to discuss transfer negotiations through the columns of the Telegraph & Argus."

Pratt was told by Rhinos coach Daryl Powell that he was no longer part of his plans, despite having two years left on his contract.

Leeds, who recently released Ryan Sheridan and Andy Hay from their existing contracts, were hoping to demand a transfer fee for Pratt, and the tribunal was called in Leeds to resolve the dispute. The hearing ruled that Pratt, who was represented by Leeds solicitors Richard Cramer and Iain Higgins, was no longer bound by his contract and that he should be made a free agent with immediate effect.

"It was found that there had been a complete breakdown in trust and confidence between Leeds Rhinos and Mr Pratt," said a statement issued by his solicitor.
