Claus Jorgensen is keeping his feet firmly on the ground as City look to extend their cracking Christmas form.

After back-to-back wins over Stoke and Wolves, and a goal in each, it would be tempting for Jorgensen to savour the moment after a tough first half of the season.

But City's great Dane is remaining focussed on getting maximum points against Grimsby and will not get carried along by any suggestions that the hard work has already been done.

Jorgensen said: "We should just keep our heads down and not start talking about having turned the corner.

"We have had some good results but we haven't got out of trouble yet.

"Even if we carry on playing like this we won't be out of trouble until March.

"It was a big win for us at Wolves, a real bonus result, but it is only three points. Now we have to concentrate on the next three points against Grimsby, which is a massive game, and I can't wait for the match to get started.

"They have been doing very well lately like us so we are expecting it to be really hard."

Jorgensen has emerged as an unlikely source of goals over the holiday week, sparking the "Santa" Claus headlines with his first efforts of the season.

He credits his sudden spurt to an increased tactical awareness and resisting the temptation to charge into the box at every chance.

Jorgensen added: "When I've played in the centre of midfield in the past I've tended to run in there too often and been a bit naive.

"I've gone in there hoping that the ball will just drop for me. But now I'm trying to think about it more and pick my moments a little better. So far it is working.

"At Wolves, I knew that Andy Tod was winning most of the headers so when I saw the cross come over I thought it was worth running in. Tody won the knockdown and I managed to put it away.

"It was a bit of an awkward finish but that is typical me. My goals are like that!"

There is no bigger contrast in the First Division between Molineux and Blundell Park. But Jorgensen knows where he feels most at home.

"Having played with Bournemouth I'm most used to places like Grimsby rather than Wolves but it's going to be just as difficult a game for us.

"With Wolves you could sense that the crowd would turn on them, which they did. But Grimsby's fans will be expecting a scruffy game and will probably be happy if they can nick a point.

"It was important for us to end our run of away defeats on Saturday and we rode our luck a couple of times. But it's not really down to luck but working hard to get your rewards."
