A £60,000 indoor skateboard bowl development at Halifax has already been used by nearly 4,000 people since it opened in mid-December. Skateboarders have travelled from as far away as Shrewsbury to use the facilities - which include a slalom track, figure of eight and a Cresta run, which has a high speed bowl. There is also a gentle slope for beginners.

After a witness at Otley today had been complimented by the prosecution on his vigilance and sense of citizenship he went into the witness box and told the magistrates he wished to complain about the length of time it took a police car to arrive after he made a 999 call. He said he rang up at about 11.40 pm and it was 12.40 when the police car came.
