Work on the "green wave" system of traffic lights and pelican crossings for Bingley's Main Street has been delayed because of difficulities with electrical cables. It had been hoped the scheme would be in operation for Christmas. A specialised firm will be undertaking construction of the "green wave" system. Traffic lights and pelican crossings will be synchronised to assist the flow of traffic.

Huddersfield's policewoman sergeant and four policewomen will patrol with nylon-clad legs for part, at any rate, of the next year.
