Bradford City fans are well on the way to bringing a new player to the cash-strapped club.

The Supporters Trust set themselves a £10,000 target to help boost manager Nicky Law's squad with a loan signing.

The Bantams boss was presented with a cheque for half that amount before Saturday's home game with Ipswich.

And Trust chairman Chris Hawkridge revealed the money is still coming in as they head towards their goal.

Mr Hawkridge said: "It's going extremely well and we're absolutely delighted with the response so far.

"We are all trying to do our bit to help the club."

The fighting fund was launched on Boxing Day when generous fans at the Stoke City game chipped in with more than £1,800 in a bucket collection.

It has since gone from strength to strength as the Trust come up with different money-making ideas.

City managing director Shaun Harvey said: "We are very grateful to receive this financial support.

"We hope we can continue to count on the backing of the Trust and our fans in the long term."

Mr Harvey will join chairman Gordon Gibb and chief executive Julian Rhodes as guests at a fans' forum on February 11 (7.30pm).

The event is organised jointly by the Trust and the official supporters' club. A question-and-answer session will be followed with an auction to bring in more cash for the loan-player fund.

Prizes on offer include return flights abroad from Leeds/ Bradford Airport and VIP days out at Valley Parade.

Next Saturday, Trust member Simon Banks is staging a sponsored walk in London to coincide with City's game at Wimbledon.

He will be walking from Selhurst Park to Kingsmeadow, the home of AFC Wimbledon.

The Trust will accept supporters' donations marked Loan Player Fund sent to and made payable to BCST at PO Box 129, Cleckheaton, Bradford, BD19 4BG.
