A brave 12-year-old Bradford City fan celebrated a dream double on a special visit to the city.

Cystic fibrosis sufferer Adam Whalley made the long trip from his home town of Felixstowe to see the Bantams secure an impressive win against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

And the youngster received VIP treatment at the Bradford & Bingley Stadium along with his friend, ten-year-old Georgia Ball, an Ipswich fan who also suffers from the genetic disease.

The pair - who were mascots together when the two sides met at Portman Road earlier in the season - have helped raise more than £600 for a cystic fibrosis charity.

After hearing about the two fanatical young fans, both Nationwide League clubs donated autographed shirts which were auctioned on their respective websites to raise much-needed cash for the Ipswich and District Cystic Fibrosis Support Group.

Adam, who was born in Ipswich but is a fanatical Bantams fan, said he was delighted to see City secure a second win against the Suffolk outfit this season.

And his special day included a tour of the stadium, five-course meal, a VIP seat in the Sunwin Stand, and a meeting with City players and former England boss Sir Bobby Robson.

"It was superb day - a wonderful atmosphere," he said. "I thought the first half was pretty even, but I think Bradford's confidence got better in the second half when they were playing towards their own fans.

"I get a lot of stick from my friends and it can be hard being a Bradford fan at times. I didn't expect them to do the double over Ipswich and I thought a draw would have been a good result, but it was out of this world."

His mum Yvonne, who set up the charity with Georgia's mum Tracy 12 months ago, said the family had enjoyed a fantastic weekend back in Bradford, where they lived until 15 years ago.

"Adam might have been born down here, but he was always going to be a Bradford City fan," she said. "He doesn't like Ipswich Town at all - he gets too much stick from his friends for that. Unfortunately he was not well enough to go to school yesterday, so he'll have to wait a few more days to get his own back on them!"
