WHARFEDALE peace protesters will join thousands at a national rally against the war in Iraq in London next weekend.
So far, two coach loads of people will make their way from Otley to London for the Stop the War Rally in Hyde Park on Saturday next week.
Organisers of the Otley group, who also plan to hold a rally on the day in the town centre, say they have been overwhelmed by support from people of all ages.
Sandra Flitcroft was at the last demonstration in London along with five other people from Otley.
"Since then its just got bigger and bigger. We've been out leafleting in the town and its been very interesting the response we've had from people. Some of us were involved with leafleting during the Gulf War and had quite a hard time then, but this time around its been completely different.
"People have been desperate to sign our petition or wear a badge and a lot of older people have said they'd been involved in a war and didn't want to go through it again."
