Bradford-based publishing firm Emerald has signed a major deal with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS).

The international organisation, which is based in the UK, serves the purchasing and supply sectors.

Emerald, which has a portfolio of more than 130 management, library and information services titles, has offices across the globe including the US, Australia and Japan.

The firm publishes journals on topics including accounting, auditing and economics, education, general management and training

The deal will see CIPS members have full access to Emerald's management reviews through the CIPS website. Kathryn Toledano, business development director at Emerald, said: "CIPS is dedicated to promoting best practice and providing a wide range of services for the benefit of their members.

"Introducing online access to high quality management thinking and information demonstrates this significant commitment to the membership and we are confident that the service will be widely used.

"This is the tenth membership organisation that we have struck a content partnership with since our new partnership programme was launched last year.

"By this means, enriching website content with access to quality management information, has become a realistic proposition for a far wider market and we are delighted by the response we have received." Roy Ayliffe, director of professional practice for The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, added: "Purchasing leaders and managers need up to date management and organisation research at their fingertips, allowing them to unlock new innovations in purchasing process management.

"Rather than benchmarking the leaders, they can become the leaders by taking on board the latest research and turning it into practice that gives a sustained competitive advantage."

Emerald, whose managing director is Dr Keith Howard, is the trading name of MCB UP Ltd, was founded by a group of business school academics in Bradford in 1967. The firm won The Charleston Advisor's Best Customer Support Award last year.
