A Keighley College student has helped to produce a unique Lowry-styled sculpture.
Jonathan Peel was among winners of a welding competition who constructed the stainless steel object at Salford Quays, near the Lowry Centre.
The sculpture -- called The Lowry Boys -- features three figures and a dog, around a lamp-post.
It was prefabricated in sections at ten of the colleges which participated in regional SkillWeld competitions.
And it was assembled and unveiled during a SkillCity event, supported by the Prince's Trust and attended by tens of thousands of young people considering craft skills training.
The design resulted from a competition among art and design students at Manchester College of Art and Technology.
Jonathan, who achieved high recognition regionally and nationally in the SkillWeld contest, said: "The winning young designers who created the design on computers were thrilled to see their work coming to life -- especially the young girl responsible for the dog!
"For us, it was an interesting departure from our usual work."
The sculpture -- which carries on its base the names of the designers, constructors and sponsors -- has been presented to Salford City Council and will be permanently housed at the former SkillCity site.
