UNFAZED by cameras and microphones three-year-old William Roberts was undaunted by the return of the BBC Child of Our Time team.

The crew captured the Giggleswick youngster attending nursery and playing at home with his siblings Alice and Charles.

Presented by Professor Robert Winston, the series is following 25 children born in the year 2000 through childhood to adulthood.

The latest series - the third - is due to be screened next January and aims to show the children's developing language and socialisation skills.

On Tuesday William was filmed playing in the snow at Mill House nursery in Giggleswick and interacting with his friends.

BBC director Ruth Drewett said: "We are following 25 children and 22 families. The children are all three now and have started nursery.

"The children don't seem to realise we are here. The hardest job for me is being there at the right place at the right time because being three year olds, it's a challenge!"

William didn't appear in the second series of Child of Our Time due to the foot and mouth crisis which involved his father Neil, who is a vet at the Dalehead practice in Settle.

The family, who live on The Mains, are visited by the BBC and a team of scientists twice a year.

The scientists devise various games for the youngsters to play to assess their development.

Professor Winston is looking to see how the children are affected by the combination of genes and upbringing.

William is already showing signs that he is well co-ordinated and loves being active. He told the Herald he also liked television, especially the Tweenies.

Mum Gillian said: "William is just like Neil - you struggle to see any of me in him!

"He is a very happy and very active little boy. He has quite a few little friends he plays with as well as Alice and Charles.
