Children are being invited to watch strongman 'Big Dave' Gauder haul a double decker bus on his own as part of a lesson on defying the bullies.

The former World's Strongest Man is touring West Yorkshire with a powerful anti-bullying message.

In a session on Monday at the Bradford and Bingley Sports Club, Wagon Lane, Bingley, attended by 300 youngsters from a range of local schools, he will explain how he was bullied as a child. He escaped from the cycle of victimisation through sport and body building.

He will also talk to the young people about the effects bullying has on the victims and the perpetrators. The session, arranged by West Yorkshire Police, will also include a drama presentation by the Xfortyone theatre group.

Youngsters will be handed crime prevention packs including mobile phone marking kits. "We were delighted with the impact Big Dave had on Year 7 students back in October," said Chief Inspector Steve Hodgson of the police's Target initiative.

"The message he gave them proved extremely helpful to young people in developing strategies for combating bullying. We are glad to have him back."
