Judge collapses in Court

Paramedics were called to Bradford Crown Court today after a senior judge collapsed.

Judge Alistair McCallum, 57, was part-way through sentencing a Halifax woman for manslaughter in court number six when he fell to the floor of the court clutching his chest shortly after 11.30am.

Court officials immediately rushed to his aid and gave him first aid while they waited for paramedics to arrive.

The courtroom was shut as Judge McCallum, who was conscious, was treated at the scene. He was then taken by ambulance to Bradford Royal Infirmary.
